Become A Challenger

The Challenger Programme is a chance to live and work with volunteers from Guyana, Canada, Costa Rica and Australia for periods of either five or eight weeks. Groups work on development projects in indigenous communities amidst the diverse flora and fauna of the Guyanese interior. Typically, participants assist with community-led construction projects to improve schools, health posts and water supplies as well as plan creative and interactive information sessions which address topics such as HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention, Gender Equity, Primary Health Care, Small Business Management and Leadership.

The Challenger Programme is an opportunity to build long lasting friendships, enjoy an enriching travel experience, and build a bright future for Guyana’s indigenous communities. Living conditions are basic and work schedules are demanding. An experienced staff team ensures projects are dynamic and results oriented. Self-discovery, personal growth and community development are key elements in all activities. Project departures occur throughout the year.
